Ford Figo Reviews: Rightindicator

Every Car manufacturer has understood till now that Hatchback car is a must have dish in their Menu to lure Indian masses. Ford took sometime to realize the fact but “Der Se Aaye par Durust Aaye” (Arrived Late but with full preparation). Though Ford Fusion is there since long time but it would not be counted because being a hatchback it does not come under the price range of a hatchback :) . Figo has got hell lot of thing for the price tag.

Design: Inherited lots of characteristics from their Ford Fusion, you can get confused with rear look of these Ford siblings. Front bonnet curves gel very well with headlight which looks like Snake’s eye. Rest of the car is chiseled with firm geometrical shapes and solid lines with less of organic curves. Built quality and finishing touch is worth of appreciation.

Ford Figo Rear is simple, avoiding lots of jazzy stuff, this job could have been done better by matching it with front part of Car. It seems Ford avoided lots of Design efforts by borrowing rear design with Fusion.

The best thing I liked in Figo is Large window glasses to infuse plenty amount of light inside and good vision outside for the passengers. Most of the cars at this moment are narrowing it to give a modern and stylish look. Ford did a good job here to balance both.

Dashboard: Ford Figo Dashboard is neat, clean and less amount of clutter, simple though nothing is left behind from comfort point of view. Ford has used good quality material and superb finishing touch.

Red color sporty dashboard is available only in top end models ZXI and Titanium, which is new and looks better over monotonous Beige, Black and Grey colors, but it has its own minor side effects. Darker color of Dashboard reflect less amount of light on wind screen for better visibility.

Instrument Panel: Instruments control has been ornamented with lots of silver.

Controls are similar to European  standard (opposite to Maruti Suzuki cars).

Music System: Figo is made for everybody, you can connect almost every commonly used device with it. Inbuilt Kenwood music system is loaded with lots of useful and desired features like port of Bluetooth connection with mobile, USB port, i-pod port, CD player, FM are added. Do you think anything is left out here :D ?

Interior: There are plenty of Cup-holders. Nice Fabric for seats. Superior quality of plastic with silver touch, rest you can look at the images itself.

Back Seat Comfort &  Space: Space for price is the USP of Figo, Back seat is extremely comfortable and provides good leg room to the passenger. Cars rear and front windows are wider and gives a good view of outside.

Back Seat leg space

The only problem is the rear seat passenger will not be getting the luxury of having power Window. No variant of Figo offers rear power windows. Rear window glass opens only 60%. There is a reason behind this, rear window size is too big for the doors so the entire glass can’t be shifted inside the lower part of door.

Boot-space: Awesome 285 liter of boot-space can carry every single thing you want to :) . In back seat 60:40 split fold is missing.I think it is useful when you want to carry lots of things and have back seat passenger which I guess is not a rare scenario.

Ford Figo Vital spec (compared to Swift):

Swift is good exmaple to compare with Ford figo:

Ford Figo Driving: Figo offers a very good leg room for driver and passenger both, hence it is comfortable for taller people too. Engine response is good for city driving, gear ratio is very well aligned for it. I will not say Figo is absolute fun to drive but it gives a very comfortable, stable and descent drive. I din’t try the limits of car, but don’t expect from a 1.2 ltr/ 75 ps petrol engine to notch a very high speed above than 12o kmph. Although I tried Swift at par of 140 kmph from 1.3ltr/87 ps engine, but that is something you don’t want to try very often.

You can rely on the Figo Duratec Petrol engine, it is well tested and Ford is using it since a long time in their vehicles. They dint improve it so much for a competitive fuel efficiency, real figures are yet to arrive for Figo.

Figo Deisel 1.4 ltr is definitely a fun to drive. TDCI has already proved its efficiency and performance.

Verdict: You can compare Figo with Swift, i10, Ritz and Beat. you find Figo is offering nothing less. If you are looking for a spacious and comfortable family car with good city driving, Figo is a good option for you. The only compromise are

1. Absence of Rear Power window, which opens only 60%.

2. Absence of 60:40 rear seat fold.

But with similar amount of features Swift and Ritz are more than 50k costlier than Figo , which is a good number to think about if your priority matches. Definitely the performance and efficiency of 1.2ltr KB series engine in Swift and Ritz is better than Duractec.

Comparing with Beat & i10, Figo is more spacious to see check here. Figo dimensions are almost same as Swift (see image below) but space is optimized very well.
